Welcome to the Lexington Youth Lacrosse Girls Program page

Our program plays in two seasons:

SPRING:

LYL offers two distinct girls programs in the spring: travel teams for grades 3-8 and an in-town program for grades K-2

Travel Teams:  Grades 3-8

The travel teams will continue to participate in the US Lacrosse Gold Stick member, Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL).

LYL will field travel teams in three age groups:

      Grades 3&4 (U11)
      Grades 5&6 (U13)
      Grades 7&8 (U15)

A player's game playing time will be influenced by their practice attendance.  Safety, skills, and team play are program goals - coaches teach in practice and implement in games, so practice is important!  We understand that occasional conflicts are unavoidable and ask that you communicate absences to your coach.

Travel teams start indoor practices in March, once per week on Sunday afternoons.  Outdoor practices and games start in April and continue through mid-June. Practices are twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games are Sunday afternoons in Lexington or a neighboring town. The spring season begins in early March and conclude around mid-June.

NEW in 2020, we are proud to offer a more competitive option for more experienced and club players who want to represent Lexington in a Select league. Players selected for this special program will play between 2 and 6 additional games against some of the best competition in our area. These games will be played Friday evenings. In order to play on our select team, players must also play for their Classic team as well.

Registration for our spring program opens in October.

In-Town: Grades K-2

LYL will also field a team for kindergarten, first  and second grade players (U9). The U9 program will not travel, as the entire focus is to teach fundamental lacrosse skills (throwing, catching, ground balls, cradling, and shooting) to young players.  Practices will be once a week on Sunday afternoons, and the program runs from April to mid June, all outdoors.

FALL:

LYL runs skills-based clinics (Fall Ball) for all age levels from mid-September through October.  Sessions are on Sunday afternoons. Players must have full equipment to participate. Registration for Fall Ball opens in August.

Mass Bays Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL):

Our parent league, you can learn more about them in this short video:

Our program has been recognized in 2018 and 2019 as a Gold Star Town by MBGLL. This designation is given in recognition of  our commitment to MBGLL’s mission as well as our dedication to making your players’ lacrosse experience the best that it can be.  We have ensured that your coaches are trained in both teaching the skills of lacrosse and delivering player training with a positive approach.  We have complied with state, federal, and league requirements. And we have made safety and fun a priority in all aspects of the game.

US LACROSSE:

It is necessary to be a member of US Lacrosse in order to participate in all of our programs.  The cost of an annual membership to US Lacrosse for a youth player is $30.00.
